The 2nd Edition Of Malaysia Coffee Week Returns This October With More Coffee Products, More Prizes And More Excitement

PETALING JAYA, 18^TH October 2023 – The Malaysia Specialty Coffee Association (MSCA) is proud to announce the return of the highly anticipated annual event, Malaysia Coffee Week 2023, happening on the 26^th to 29^th October 2023 at the 1 Utama Shopping Centre, Petaling Jaya.

Dubbed as the largest coffee festival in Malaysia, this annual coffee celebration is designed to captivate everyone – from coffee enthusiasts to casual sippers, promising an immersive experience that goes beyond your regular cup of coffee.

Malaysia Coffee Week is held to discover the rich flavors of the country’s coffee culture, bringing together coffee lovers from all around the peninsular. This year promises to be bigger and bolder than ever, featuring two exciting competitions, Malaysia Barista Team Championship 2023 and the inaugural Malaysia Cup Taster Challenge.

Highlights of Malaysia Coffee Week 2023:

1. Malaysia Cup Taster Challenge 2023: The inaugural cup taster challenge is scheduled to take place on the first two days of the event, 26^thand 27^th October with a total of 32 competitors. In the challenge, competitors must use their sensory skills, including taste and aroma, to detect subtle differences in the coffees and identify the odd cup in the shortest time possible. A total cash prize of RM6,000 will be up for grabs for the top three winners.

2. Malaysia Barista Team Championship 2023: The second edition of Malaysia Barista Team Championship returns with 14 competing teams and a total cash prize of RM7,000. Set for 28^thand 29^th October, audience will witness an intense competition among baristas in a simulated cafe situation, competing to showcase their speed, accuracy and craftmanship in coffee preparation. The champion team will walk away with RM4,000 cash prize and represent Malaysia to compete in the ASEAN Barista Team Championship 2024 in Thailand.

3. Spin & Win: Visitors will have the opportunity to win prizes worth a total of RM10,000 including items such as the WPM KD- 210S2 Espresso Coffee Machine, the Timemore Chestnut C2 Hand Grinder, the Fellow Opus Coffee Grinder, the Cold Drip X5 – Ice Drip Coffee and Tea Maker, along with coffee beans, coffee mugs, gift cards and various other goodies.

4. Meetthe Champions of Malaysia National Coffee Championship 2023: The champions of the Malaysia Barista Championship 2023 (MBC), Surender Kumar, and the Malaysia Brewers Cup 2023 (MBrC), Liew Kar Weng, will be sharing their experience, journey and reflection on becoming national coffee champions.

5. Workshops:Exhibitors taking part in Malaysia Coffee Week 2023 will be hosting various coffee and tea related workshops for the public. This includes coffee and tea appreciation workshop, ASEAN coffee tasting session, handcraft coffee incense stick workshop, coffee brewing workshop, coffee cupping and more.

6. VIP Lounge:ONECARD LUXE and SILVER members will enjoy exclusive access to a VIP Lounge situated at GF LUXE, 1 Utama Shopping Centre. The lounge offers a selection of pastries and beverages for the members to enjoy.
